Sentinel Fence & Rail
Based on the LEED 2009 v3 standard for New Construction and Major Renovations
• Sentinel Fence and Rails are constructed from aluminum extrusions with a recycled content of at least 78% by weight.
• Post-consumer scrap is a minimum of 17% of the content and pre-consumer scrap constitutes a minimum of 61% of the material.
This meets the Materials and Resources (MR) Credit 4: Recycled Content of 20% minimum
requirements (post-consumer + ½ pre-consumer).
Using this formula, the total combined Recycled Content of our aluminum is 47.5%.
This should allow any project using Sentinel Fence and Rail products to be eligible for 2 points in the MR Credit 4: Recycled Content category.
MR Credit 4.1: Recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (based on cost) of the total value of the material in the project.)
MR Credit 4.2: Recycled Content: 20% (post-consumer + ½ pre-consumer)
Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes an additional 10% beyond MR Credit 4.1.
Sentinel’s powder coating process is solvent free. The powder is formulated using finely ground pigments and resins with zero solvents resulting in a clean air finish and next to zero VOCs. The electrostatic powder to substrate process equates to very little overspray of which 98% can be retrieved and reused. This would qualify for LEED points only if it is used indoors.
